Chapter 1: Introduction
In this chapter I provided a short history of my board game experience. Here are some links to the those games and campaigns:
The Prisoner's Dilema (Kickstarter)
The very first game I designed and Kickstarter. I learned a lot about making games and Kickstarting with this project. Which you can probably tell because the game, graphic design and Kickstarter are all a hot mess. But it still funded amazing enough.
En Passant (Kickstarter)
I consider this my first successful game and Kickstarter. The game had 150 backers and raised $2,600. That's not a lot for Kickstarter but it was a lot for me being my second game to market.
En Passant (Official Web page)
Here is a web page that has some graphics and rules for the game.
The Turing Test
This was my first failed Kickstarter. The game is a hidden role game where a majority of the players are human but with some of the other players being robots. Robots are working together to overtake the humans and each human is trying to kill all of the other humans and robots to be the last man standing.
The Piker
What I consider to be my best game. Tried to Kickstart the game but didn't send out any copies for reviews and put together a lackluster video. Looking to pitch to game publishers at the next publisher speed-dating event at BGGCON. The game is a stock market, dice placement, area control, set collection game.
8-Bit Battle
Another successful Kickstarter but on a very small level. The game is an 18-card micro player vs. player micro game.
Wordcrafter
I wanted to try my hand at a word game. The prototype was complete but playtesting went terribly and I decided to shelf the idea.
The Bank Heist
A co-design where players work together to crack the safe but then the game turns into an every-man-for-himself competitive race out of the bank. I learned about the challenges of co-designing and this game idea got stuck since the partner stopped contributing but I can't move forward since that partner is 50% owner.
Gardenscape
My first prototype. It seemed like a good idea in my head but after playing the prototype determined it was not a good game.
Burger Royale
This is the first game where I was able to find phenomenal stock art for the cards. The game itself was just okay though so it is shelved until I figure out how to improve it.
Usurp
I had a local friend who was getting into drawing and art. He designed the art for the cards. I was never able to find a good design for the game based on his art. This is still in development.
Barn Raiser
Another successful Kickstarter. The game was designed specifically to raise money for a church project to upgrade a barn into a music studio and church performance area. The game was average but since it was for a charity, it was ended up doing very well.
Keramikos
I love the game "Can't Stop". Keramikos is my version of the game. I designed it for personal use and I love the game. I hope one day to make it prettier and get it ready to Kickstart or to find a publisher.
The Big Day
My latest project. It is a roll-and-write wedding planning game. It is currently in play testing.
